Ashlee Simpson Reflects on The SNL Incident

It's been 14 years since Ashlee Simpson notoriously flubbed a "live" musical performance on Saturday Night Live, revealing that she was singing or lip synching along to a pre-recorded track. She has moved on to become a mother of two (of 9-year-old Bronx with Pete Wentz and 3-year-old Jagger with husband Evan Ross) and is now starring in the new E! show Ashlee and Evan with her husband and family, but she hasn't forgotten that day.

How to Watch

Tune in to WWHL on Bravo Sunday through Thursday and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

"What happened there was that I had a vocal problem," she shared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. "I had two nodes beating against each other and I woke up and had no voice. Then I should have said, 'No, I will not go on; I will not do this.'"

She seems to take the teenage incident in stride now, but she admitted that it was definitely difficult at the time.

"I was such a young girl and it was, like, heavy. But for me it made me stronger and, you know, sh-- happens."
