Ashley Darby Reveals Her Real "Issue with Candiace"
The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member claps back at Candiace Dillard Bassett's comments about using Auto-Tune.
When Candiace Dillard Bassett appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last week, she addressed her past criticism of Ashley Darby's use of Auto-Tune in her song "Coffee & Love" in light of using the recording technology herself in her recently released single "Drive Back."
Candiace noted that Auto-Tune is "an industry standard." "Everybody uses it from, like, the best singers to the ones that need a little prayer," she explained. "Some just need it more than others."
When Andy Cohen noted how they had "both used it," Candiace replied, "People use it in a creative way. Like T-Pain. Have you ever heard T-Pain sing? T-Pain is an amazing vocalist, but he used it in a creative way to get onto the stage. She used it on the entire song."
So, of course, when Ashley returned to the Bravo Clubhouse on August 1, she had a thing or two to say about Candiace's comments, which Ashley said were actually indicative of why they just can't seem to get along. "Andy, you know what, that's my issue with Candiace is no matter how much you try to talk to her about something and confront her about something, she's always gonna find some way to like push it off, shove it off," Ashley explained. "Bitch, if you like Auto-Tune, just say that you like Auto-Tune. It's OK! It's all right, you know?"
Ashley and Candiace have famously not seen eye to eye in recent seasons of The Real Housewives of Potomac, and their drama usually concerns topics outside of the recording booth. Ashley's husband, Michael Darby, can even attest to their continued beef, correctly guessing that Candiace is the Potomac Housewife whom his wife complains about the most during a game of "Lovey Dove Darbys!" on Sunday's WWHL (clip below).
As for what Candiace had to say about Ashley's WWHL appearance? "Apparently @BravoWWHL was about me tonight," Candiace tweeted. "Am I the drinking game?"
Still, Candiace is riding high after the release of her "Drive Back" single and music video earlier this month, earning praise from none other than Nicki Minaj, who recently showed her love for all of the RHOP ladies. She also gave a sneak peek at what's next for her music career on Instagram on August 1, releasing the track list of her forthcoming debut album.
