Patricia Altschul Has *This* to Say About Southern Charm's Season 9 Romance Drama
Plus, the Southern Charm matriarch gives an update on everything she’s been up to lately.
Patricia Altschul proves once again why she’s the head matriarch in charge!
Since Season 1 of Southern Charm, Patricia has offered fans a glimpse at her extravagant lifestyle, which seems befit only for a Grand Dame. She resides in a grand estate adorned with the most exquisite home decor and has a trusty butler at her beck and call, always on standby to bring her a glass of champagne.
When Patricia is not indulging in life's luxuries, she spends her time sharing her clever yet practical advice with the southern beaus and bells of Charleston, helping them navigate their friendships and relationships.
Although Patricia’s wisdom isn’t often what the Southern Charm cast wants to hear, they still respect her. During a sit down with BravoTV.com, the grand dame shared her thoughts on the Season 9 romance drama.

In the clip above, Patricia was asked what surprised her the most this season, and her answer wasn’t too shocking. “The co-mingling of the cast members,” she says.
Of course, this deals with the ongoing chatter about Austen Kroll and Taylor Ann Green, but nothing could prepare for what Patricia says next. Let her explain above.

What else is new in Patricia Altschul’s life?
As fans may recall, Patricia’s former butler, Michael Kelcourse, stopped working for her several years ago following health issues. Since then, she has been on the hunt for a new right-hand man to assist with the upkeep of her home. Patricia even enlisted the help of her son, Whitney Sudler-Smith, for a moment, which we got to see in Season 8.
Luckily, this no longer appears to be an issue. Per a press release for Season 9 of Southern Charm (which currently airs Thursdays on Bravo), things are back to normal in her household, as “Patricia Altschul, the Grand Dame of Charleston, is back to hold court over the group with son Whitney Sudler-Smith, who finds himself somewhat relieved of his butler duties."
More specifically, in the season 9 premiere, we were formally introduced to Patricia’s new butler, Randy, who was already hard at work serving up cocktails.
