Captain Sandy Yawn has seen a lot in her more than 28 years of yachting experience. She's had to deal with charter guests requesting to hook up with other yachts, asking to fly in girls, and even asking to supply drugs. So naturally, the Below Deck Mediterranean captain has also had to deal with being hitting on by guests. When asked if she's ever had a boat romance like so many of her crew have, the answer was an emphatic "no." But...
"Have I ever been approached mostly by clients, and owners, and owners' wives? Of course. Absolutely. Oh, my God. And I have many of those," she told The Daily Dish podcast. But she has her own way of averting the awkwardness: "And I just go, 'Oh, my God, I gotta go to the bridge.' ... 'There's an alarm.' ... 'I'm on anchor watch.'"
In fact, Captain Sandy shared an experience with us: "I had one that was completely nude invite me to open their safe, they couldn't open it, wanted me, I walked in, I was like, 'You wanna put a robe on?' And [I] go in, open the safe, they needed something out of it, and there was nothing in the safe. And they said, 'Would you mind sitting and talking to me? I'm really depressed.' And I'm like, 'No, I'm so sorry. Come to the bridge. I'll talk to you through the bridge ... and put some clothes on.'"
The Talisman Maiton captain also dished on the drama between the crew this season; listen to Captain Sandy's take on that and more in the podcast episode above. And make sure to catch Below Deck Mediterranean, every Tuesday at 9/8c. See a preview for Tuesday's episode, below.
