Captain Sandy Yawn Gives Her Honest Opinion of Kate Chastain
The Below Deck and Below Deck Med crew members met earlier this year.
Here at Bravo, we love a crossover, and nothing made us happier than seeing that Below Deck's Kate Chastain and Below Deck Mediterranean's Captain Sandy Yawn met up for dinner in Florida in January.
Judging by the smile-filled pic that Kate and Captain Sandy took that night, which you can check out below, it seems like this is the start of a beautiful friendship. "I had a lovely dinner with Kate and her friends. I love that she is helping others! I also met her wonderful mother & friend!" Captain Sandy gushed in an Instagram post that featured a photo of the two during their night out on the town. "Good energy all around! Thanks for dinner Kate!"
Kate opened up an upscale resale store where all proceeds go to Genesis House, a nonprofit located in Melbourne, Florida that helps provide emergency homes for women and children in need. The Below Deck chief stew's philanthropy is one of the reasons Captain Sandy originally wanted to meet her, she recently told The Daily Dish. When the two met, Captain Sandy said she "was really impressed" by Kate, and she would even love to have the chief stew be a part of her crew one day. "She's a wonderful person. And I get to hear what she did before [Below Deck]. And I was wicked impressed," Captain Sandy shared. "And her level of service I pay attention to. Kate's very good at service. She's excellent. You can tell she cares about service."
Captain Sandy isn't the only Below Deck Med crew member who's a fan of Kate. Kate struck up an immediate friendship with her Below Deck Med counterpart Hannah Ferrier. And after hours spent chatting on the phone, the two finally met in person when Hannah appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on May 22. "Guess who flew across the country to come have cocktails with me at #WWHL??? My stew soul sister!!!" Hannah gushed about the momentous occasion on Instagram. "We have spent well over 100 hours on the phone to each other but last night was the first time in the flesh!! Let’s just say it won’t be the last. So much love for you @kate_chastain."
