Gary King Says There’s “Always Been a Connection” with Daisy Kelliher
The first mate also shared what made him “happy” about Daisy’s hot tub kiss with Alex Propson.
Gary King may have played it cool on the April 24 episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht when he found out that Daisy Kelliher made out with deckhand Alex Propson in the hot tub during the first crew night out, but he was actually feeling quite jealous at the time.
After the episode aired, Gary and Captain Glenn Shephard appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and he opened up about his bond with Daisy as well as the kiss she shared with Alex.
“To be honest, Andy, I was quite happy that I wasn’t there in person,” Gary told host Andy Cohen on WWHL, referring to the fact that he missed the first charter due to repeatedly testing positive for COVID. “So [it was] probably better that [way].”
Revealing just how jealous he was, Gary said, “[O]n a scale of one to 10, I’d say roughly 13.” After all, as he explained on the show, it took him “two and a half years to kiss Daisy.” The pair, as fans may recall, actually did so for the first time when they were spending time together in the same hot tub on Season 3.
“I think there’s always been a connection between Daisy and I, and for that exact reason, hearing her kissing another guy obviously made me feel jealous,” Gary added on WWHL.
Gary went on to explain that he was still feeling that way when he talked to Daisy about the kiss on the episode, and when he referred to her and Alex as “opposites.”
“I think I was fishing more than anything else. I just wanted to find out if it was true, what happened, and if she meant it or if it was just a drunken hookup,” he added about why he confronted Daisy about the make-out. “There’s that jealousy coming out of me now.”
Gary and Daisy have long shared a special friendship (though they didn’t exactly get along when they first joined the Parsifal III crew on Season 2), but the first mate doesn’t think they’re necessarily suited as romantic partners.
During a round of “The BFF Test,” both Captain Glenn and Gary agreed that the latter cast member is “better as friends” with Daisy.
Gary and Daisy may have a deep history with each other, but the first mate found a special connection with another crewmate as well. Andy asked him who made the best “first impression” on Season 4, and Gary had a surprising answer.
“Daisy, hands down, as always, and Mads [Herrera],” Gary said about the two stews. ICYMI, he can be seen making out with Mads in the Season 4 trailer.
Will Gary find himself in an uncomplicated boatmance on Season 4, or is he destined to enter into another love triangle? Tune in to Below Deck Sailing Yacht to find out.
