Below Deck Sailing Yacht Crew Reacts to Jean-Luc Confirming He's the Father of Dani's Baby
Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux confirmed the results of "an international DNA test" on Instagram last month.
Last month, Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux confirmed on Instagram that he is the father of Dani Soares' daughter, Lilly, whom she welcomed in May 2021, after receiving the results of "an international DNA test."
Jean-Luc and Dani's relationship both during and after Season 2 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht was a major topic of conversation at that season's reunion. So, when Captain Glenn Shephard appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on February 21, he shared his reaction to this latest development in the pair's complicated dynamic. "I think it's about time, first of all," Captain Glenn said in the above clip of Jean-Luc sharing the results of his paternity test last month.
Captain Glenn said that he has been in touch with both Jean-Luc and Dani. "I haven't heard, you know, what his involvement is going to be, but I have touched base with them, yeah," he shared. "I know Dani's doing well."
Daisy Kelliher also recently commented on Jean-Luc's Instagram post in an interview with Page Six, saying that she didn't agree with him putting the information out there on social media. “It’s their business," Daisy added. "And I’m there to help either of them if they need us.”
Gary also told Page Six that Jean-Luc should "let your actions be mightier than your words." “I just hope JL can see it in himself to be there for her,” he said. “The fact that it’s taken him almost a year to come out and admit that he’s a father, [it] kind of just shows that in his age or his immaturity, and I just hope that he can learn from this and he can see his mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes, and I believe everyone deserves second chances. So it’s not about what he says now. It’s about what he does that will define the person who he is.”
Jean-Luc's Instagram post from last month ended with an update on how things have been between him and Dani as of late. "Dani and I have been working and communicating together to the best of our ability; given Dani is a full time mother and worker, and I being gone for extended periods of time not knowing when I will step back on land. This is imperative for the sake of our daughter as she needs both parents in her life," Jean-Luc wrote. "I am thankful for my friends, and family who have stuck by my side through thick and thin. As I look forward to this new year with new opportunities, I will be striving to be the best man and father that I can be. God bless."
Though Dani has seemingly yet to comment on Jean-Luc's recent announcement publicly, you will see plenty of news about what she's been up to since Season 2 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht on her Instagram, including celebrating her daughter turning 8 months old in January with a too-cute pic of Lilly.
In that same post, Dani also showed her gratitude to several of her Below Deck Sailing Yacht crewmates. "The new Below Deck Sailing season is just around the corner and I would like to take this chance to thank some of my fellow crew from season 2 who supported me in every way I needed and without whom I don't think I could've made [it]," Dani wrote, before tagging Alli Dore, Colin, Daisy, and Natasha de Bourg. "Life is better with friends."
