Bethenny Frankel Stepping into the Shapewear Game
Heads up, Jill Zarin -- an undergarment battle's taking shape.
Watch your back, Jill Zarin -- you've got company in the shapewear game. Just a few blinks of an eye after the New York Housewife debuted her Skweez Couture line, Bethenny Frankel announced that she, too, is trying to take a slice out of the shapewear business.
"I wear shapers once in a while, going on the red carpet, to smooth things out," the Bethenny Ever After star confides to Women's Wear Daily. unveiling plans for her own Skinnygirl Shapers. "[My] line ranges from tank tops in black or beige to my signature color, red, which is a confidence color and a little daring... but not white because it can make anyone look bigger."
Bethenny's also helping women add junk to their trunks; one of her favorite pieces from the collection is a control brief with a butt pad that comes Jason approved. "I was holding my butt out so my husband could notice, and he said, 'Oh, you look juicy,'" she spills.
This next extension of the Skinnygirl brand features four groups of products and retails between $20 and $40. The Skinny and Secret Service are your basic pieces, like leggings and tanks. But the hot momma brings the sex appeal with her Glamouflage and Show, Don't Tell flirty pieces, including "a sexy apron with a bra... you might wear [it] for Valentine's Day to wake up in and fix your husband breakfast in," B says.
Jill, meanwhile, just launched her Skweez Couture line during New York Fashion Week, and her Real Housewives of New York City co-stars have already begun talking up the product. When she first announced plans for the line, Jill told reporters, "I wear Spanx, but there's no competition out there." That'll change in March, when Skinnygirl Shapers make their debut.
