Braunwyn Windham-Burke Went Through 2 Years of IVF to Have Her 7th Child
The Real Housewives of Orange County mom gives a glimpse into what it's like having a family of nine.
Braunwyn Windham-Burke's youngest child, Hazel Kai, is growing up! The Real Housewives of Orange County tot just celebrated her 2nd birthday on February 1.
Braunwyn commemorated the occasion by giving little Hazel the spotlight on her Instagram as her "Kid of the Week," a recurring feature in which the RHOC mom lets her fans get to know one of her seven children a little bit better. "Happy birthday sweet girl, our baby, the one that made our family feel complete," Braunwyn gushed in the post, which featured a photo of a smiling Hazel at the beach.
Braunwyn then gave some insight into how Hazel became a part of her family. "We worked very hard for this little one, 2 years of IVF and many losses to get her, but when I look at her huge smile, her eyes that light up and her adorable laugh I can tell you, it’s all worth it," Braunwyn wrote in the post. "She’s the easiest baby we’ve ever had, is best friends with her sister and loves to just follow the others around. I’m so grateful for you, thank you for being a part of our family."
Braunwyn and her husband, Sean Burke, actually originally planned on only having five children, but she told PEOPLE Now in August 2019 that their family didn't feel "complete" until they welcomed baby No. 7. However, Hazel will definitely be Braunwyn and Sean's last child. "There is no chance of having baby No. 8," she told PEOPLE Now. "We did IVF for our younger kids. We are out of embryos. We are done."
Braunwyn got emotional while talking about her weaning party and her decision to not have any more children during The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 14 After Show, which you can view, above.
Traveling as a family of nine is already tough as it is, which Braunwyn showed us in her Instagram Story when she and Sean took their kids on a trip to Aspen, Colorado during Hazel's birthday week. Braunwyn took her fans along for the ride, showing how her family has to count off to make sure everyone is present and accounted for in the van on the way to the airport. "Don't want a Home Alone moment," Braunwyn wrote on Instagram.
She also revealed that they have to book under two reservations when they travel "because our family is too large."
And yes, Braunwyn and Sean do have help with their seven kids when they travel.
But traveling with seven children can still be challenging, especially when the unpredictable happens. "Traveling with kids is hard, we all know that. Traveling with seven kids is really, really hard," Braunwyn shared in her Instagram Story after the family got to Aspen. "Today was probably the worst travel day we have ever had in the history of our lives, and we travel a lot. It was just loud, it wasn't working, it's not what we thought, I had a panic attack. It was bad."
Judging by Braunwyn's latest Instagram posts, it looks like the trip has since turned around for the Windham-Burkes — well, for the most part.
