Braunwyn Windham-Burke Shares That Her Son Curren Is Legally Blind
The Real Housewives of Orange County kid will be undergoing another surgery to try to improve his vision.
Despite being dealt some challenges early on in his life, Braunwyn Windham-Burke's son Curren is absolutely thriving.
The Real Housewives of Orange County mom highlighted one of her twin sons, Curren, during her recurring "Kid of the Week" feature on her Instagram on February 13. Braunwyn shared that Curren was diagnosed with Nystagmus, a vision condition in which the eyes make repetitive, uncontrolled movements that can cause reduced vision and depth perception and can also affect balance and coordination, according to the American Optometric Association.
"When Curren was born he was diagnosed with Nystagmus and spent the first 4 years of his life without being able to see much (he’d hold onto his twin to help him navigate the world)," Braunwyn recalled in the post. "When he was 4 he had his first surgery and one of my best 'mommy' moments was when he opened his eyes 3 days later, ran around the house showing me everything and then finally put his hands on the side of my face and said, 'Wow Mommy, you’re so pretty.'”
Braunwyn has high hopes that Curren's vision will be able to improve even more in the future. "Although he’s still legally blind you’d never know it, and this Spring he’ll have another surgery that’ll hopefully bring his vision to where he can drive one day," she said. "Despite all this, he still runs and plays and even skis!! I love this little human with all my heart and I’m so proud of him!"
Braunwyn also opened up more about what makes Curren, who is also lovingly known as "the little professor," so special. "Curren is an inquisitive little guy, always amazing me with his insight and his innate understanding of how the world works. He’s a tiny genius like his grandfather ([who's] an actual rocket scientist) and can spend hours working on the most complicated projects," Braunwyn described. "Curren has a heart of gold, and loves his friends and family dearly."
