After Irene's hurricane winds and pounding rain subsided in the New York area, her hardest punch — thankfully — proved to be the unprecedented shutdown of the city's public transit system. Andy Cohen, who braved the storm out in the Hamptons, witnessed the biggest of her guns and tweeted, "Downed tree in my yard. Yikes! #EffOffIrene." Later he updated concerned followers, "Gorgeous day on Long Island! Still have no power but there could be worse things..."

Back in Manhattan, RHONY's Ramona Singer tweeted post-Irene, "Thank God ,We are all ok! some flooding in nyc and tri state trees down but could of been worse Hope ur all safe too Xoxo." Out in the boroughs, Brooklyn-ite Alex McCord escaped cabin fever once the hurricane-turned-tropical-storm passed and wrote, "Wow, we went for a walk earlier & passed a tree. Came back out for dinner and the whole tree is down. Glad we weren't under it! #StillWindy."

Across the George Washington Bridge, Real Housewives of New Jersey's Kathy Wakile tweeted, "So happy the storm nj wasn't as bad as predicted ! Good to know that nj was ready prepared for worse ! #teamwork Good bye Irene." Co-star Jacqueline Laurita even received an unexpected present courtesy of Irene. "Is everybody ok from #HurricaneIrene ?We just got a lil flooding.I have a pond now in my yard," she wrote. "Always wanted 1.(but not w/the swingset in it)."

Always knowing how to lighten the mood, Christopher Manzo joked, "Hey @Bravotv is it true that you tried casting #Irene for #rhonj ??" There's an idea.
