Camille Grammer Opens up About Her Assistant Scott MacLean's Death: "I Was So Blessed to Have Him All These Years”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills friend lost her assistant of more than 20 years two days before the California wildfires.
2018 was a difficult year for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills friend Camille Grammer: Not only did she lose her home in the California wildfires, but days earlier, her longtime assistant, Scott MacLean, passed away. She originally confirmed the sad news on Instagram, writing, "We can replace/rebuild our home but we can’t replace people we have lost. I lost my assist of 20 plus years, Scott, two days before the fires. I’m still grieving and will continues to do so. He was family to me."
Camille told The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show that Scott was originally her ex-husband Kelsey Grammer's assistant but chose to stay with her after the divorce. "He just said, you know, Camille, I love you and I feel that your family is my family. So he stayed on with me and I was so blessed to have him all these years."
She confirmed that Scott's death was sudden and said, "His health was deteriorating but I didn't know when he was leaving my house to fly to Vegas to see his significant other, he hugged me really tight, made sure he said goodbye to me. I didn't realize that was going to be the end of it. I thought he was coming back."
Camille took comfort in what Scott had previously told her, sharing, "He would say to me if I was to leave this planet, I've done everything I've ever wanted to do here. I have love in my life. I have you to thank for amazing experiences, for your friendship, for your support, for your love. Scott traveled with us. He said I would have never had these experiences if it wasn't working for you, and even working for Kelsey years ago. So when he was talking to me about this months ago, I thought, well, maybe he's sick. Because he's trying to let me know in a way that if something happens, he's resigned to the end of his life. He knew it was coming. But maybe that was his way of trying to let me know."
She continued, "As devastating the loss has been, we were able to talk about it before. But I didn't realize it was coming so soon."
Lisa Vanderpump also remembered Camille's late assistant. Hear what she has to say in the video above.
