Candiace Dillard Bassett Reveals What Happened to Her Contract with Her Mother

The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member has an update on their relationship.

By Hannah Fusaro

Candiace Dillard Bassett has somewhat of a complicated relationship with her mother. After all, her mom pays for part of Candiace's mortgage for her home with husband Chris Bassett. And the two have frequently butted heads; Candiace alleged that her mom actually hit her in the face with her purse at a recent wedding.

Given their tense relationship, Candiace's therapist gave her a contract to fill out with her mother (who is also a therapist) to help navigate their relationship in a positive direction.

"The hope after our first therapy session was that we would continue therapy and we had every intention of doing that," Candiace explained on The Real Housewives of Potomac After Show. "So we did a mother-daughter contract after therapy. And it worked for, like, five minutes. We both signed it."

So how did it go? Candiace said her mother "would reference the contract and say, 'OK, we can't argue because we have to follow the mother-daughter contract,' but then it kind of faded away but I just kind of felt like she wasn't exactly open to it at that time. I do plan to sort of go back in with some faith and ask her if we can. Because I believe in therapy across the board."

Ultimately, Candiace said, "She does want to move forward, it's just how. And it has to be on both of our terms."
