Chanel Ayan Shares a Powerful Update on Her Cosmetics Line, Ayan Beauty: "It Needs to be Done"
The Real Housewives of Dubai cast member opened up about bringing awareness to an important issue with her cosmetics line.
On The Real Housewives of Dubai Season 2, Episode 7, fans saw Chanel Ayan launch her cosmetics line, Ayan Beauty, with a lavish, glamorous party. For the occasion, Ayan showed off beautiful displays of makeup palettes, false eyelashes, and more for guests to peruse.
Earlier in August, Ayan sat down with BravoTV.com to talk more about her cosmetics line, giving details about how it's going and where she plans to take it in the future.
"People are loving it, people are supporting me. It's doing really good," Ayan shared during our exclusive chat. "I'm so happy that people get to see me this season building Ayan Beauty because growing up in my village, I used to sell bananas on my head. And now I'm selling products on the internet."
Details on Chanel Ayan's Beauty Line, Ayan Beauty
Ayan reflected on having "so many people" support her from all over the world, including those who share a traumatic experience with the RHODubai 'Wife.
"Our proceeds go to [bringing] awareness for FGM because they're trying to bring it back. A lot of countries are bringing it back," she shared about the practice of forced genital mutilation, an experience she tragically underwent when she was five years old and opened up about on Season 1 of RHODubai.
"I feel like it's my moment to actually talk more about it, [to] give awareness to it and try to stop it," Ayan shared. "Even if I talk to 10 to 15 girls to stop it, then those 10, 15 girls stop it. It needs to be done."
"The governments right now in Africa are trying to bring it back so I'm using Ayan Beauty to try to bring awareness to it," she added. "I think that's why they're supporting me and they want to see what I'm gonna do with it."
Inside Chanel Ayan's "Family Business"
Not only is Ayan's beauty line close to her heart for personal reasons but her loved ones are also enlisted in the process.
"It's a family business too — my son is always in the office," she revealed during our conversation, also noting that her husband, Chris Pillott, "helps" her with various aspects of her business.
Ayan also shared that although her mother has dementia, she continues to share stories of her success.
"I'm like, 'Mom, I have a business on the internet [...] I have a makeup line.' She's never worn makeup in her life, you know what I mean?" Ayan shared. "I tell her what I'm doing with it and she doesn't understand a lot of it, but I want her to know."
