Christian Siriano Takes on an Unconventional Materials Challenge: "I Love a Competition"

The tables are turned as Prajjé Oscar Jean-Baptiste gets the chance to judge the Project Runway mentor in a special face-off.

By Laura Rosenfeld

One of the most feared challenges in any season of Bravo's Project Runway is when the designers are tasked with creating a look out of unconventional materials. It was time for the Season 19 contestants to tackle this task in the December 16 episode of Project Runway when they were asked to create an elegant cocktail dress using items commonly found in an actual cocktail bar.

How to Watch

The judges ultimately did not raise a glass to one design out of the bunch, choosing to send Prajjé Oscar Jean-Baptiste home for his doily-filled dress. Prajjé opened up to Christian Siriano after his elimination in the Project Runway After Show and shared which designer he believes actually had "by far the worst look on the runway," as well as how his Haitian culture inspires his designs. See his full conversation with Christian, above.

Christian and Prajjé also got to have some fun in the Project Runway After Show. Christian decided to try his hand at an unconventional materials challenge, inviting TRESemmé global stylist Lacy Redway to a hair face-off also using items often found in a cocktail bar, such as drink umbrellas and stirrers. "Everyone knows I used to be a hairstylist, and everyone knows I love a competition," Christian quipped in the above clip.

With 10 minutes on the clock, Christian and Lacy raced to see who could give their models, who happened to be Project Runway challenge team producers Haley Woods and Joshua Kerlin, the most fabulous 'do. The competition got intense as Christian and Lacy tried to execute the most creative coifs.

Prajjé got his chance to sit in the judges' seat and decide the winner of this hair face-off. Lacy presented a chic and "very wearable" look, while Christian gave us "Captain Sparrow shiprwreck pirate in Ibiza" with his hairstyle. It's no wonder Prajjé said, "It was very hard to decide between the two."

Press play on the above video to find out which hairstyle reigned supreme. You'll even pick up some nifty hair tips along the way.

Project Runway airs Thursdays at 9/8c. And you can catch up on Project Runway the next day on Peacock.
