Venita & Leva Weigh In on Craig & Paige's Breakup: "Wish Them The Best"
The Southern Charm cast members are showing their support for Craig Conover amid his recent breakup from Paige DeSorbo.
It has almost been one month since Southern Charm's Craig Conover and Summer House's Paige DeSorbo confirmed the news that they have broken up after three years of dating. Now, Charleston's own, Venita Aspen and Leva Bonaparte, have spoken out about the breakup, showing their support for both parties and sharing why the split didn't come as a shock to them.
Venita appeared on Housewives Nightcap on Jan. 16, where she shared her initial reaction to the news. "I wasn't surprised, but I also wasn't happy to hear it," she added, noting that she is a "lover" so she's optimistic for couples to work through their issues.
"I only say that because they are in such different places in life, but at the same place," she explained. "I think things were just taking off for the both of them in great ways, but it wasn't bringing them back together."
Has Venita Aspen talked to Craig Conover since his breakup?
No she has not. But, she did reveal on the podcast that she has reached out to Paige. "My initial response was to text Paige, so that's what I did and reached out just to see how she was doing," she explained.
"Yes, I'm on the show with Craig, but I'm a girl's girl at the end of the day," she added. "So I texted her to make sure she was OK. And, you know, she's [taking things] one day at a time."
Why Leva Bonaparte was "sad" about Craig Conover's breakup with Paige
Leva appeared on Brittany Cartwright's podcast, When Reality Hits, on Jan. 17, where she gave some insight into Paige and Craig's dynamic as a couple. "You could tell they were in love. When I was around them, they were so cute and they had a fun dynamic," she explained.
Although the love was there, Paige and Craig's long-distance relationship had taken its toll on them, she explained. "So when they broke up, it was sad because you could tell they loved each other, but you could also tell there was a strain," she continued. "They both have so much going on that I've seen those relationships where it's like, love is maybe not enough."
Leva Bonaparte is optimistic about Craig Conover's future
Although Leva loved them as a couple, she is optimistic about Craig and Paige's futures. "They'll both find amazing people, I'm sure, in the future," she said. "I wish them the best."
And, she was able to check in on them both just to make sure they were doing OK. "I just feel bad," she added. "And I reached out to Paige, too. I was like, Listen, I just want to let you know this is where I stand. This is just honest, and I hope you're doing OK. Because I know breakups are hard and especially to have it all out there and everyone making comments about it."
Why did Craig Conover and Paige DeSorbo break up?
Paige took to her own podcast, Giggly Squad, on Dec. 30, where she shared that she didn't foresee them breaking up, but they had gone through a lot of changes over the course of their three year relationship. "I mean, I started dating Craig when I was 29 and I'm 32 now," she said. "And your thirties, for women, really are transformative, and you change a lot and you grow a lot, and him as well."'
Craig took to his Instagram Story a week later where he released his first statement after the breakup. "This has all been unexpected to say the least," he said. "But I guess life has to, I gotta start living it, whatever that looks like. Whatever my new normal looks like, I have to start."
