Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas: Crime Fighters?
How the RHOA stars are helping capture a hometown cop killer.
Most Housewives stars have plenty of side-projects with books, businesses and more—but here's one we haven't heard of yet: crime fighters.
Cynthia Bailey and husband Peter Thomas are plunking down a fat reward to help Atlanta police locate the man who shot a police officer on Saturday.
Christopher L. Smith was gunned down while working as an off-duty security job at a local apartment complex, not far from the restaurant, Bar One Tapas, that is owned by Peter.
Crime Stoppers Atlanta is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the gunman's arrest—and Cynthia and Peter have offered to double it. He's hoping his contribution will encourage other business owners to do the same. "This is a challenge to business owners," Peter told Access Atlanta. "They should match my $5,00 to get this cop killer off the street."
Peter says this latest shooting reminded him of a similar incident that happened near his establishment in 2009, when a bartender was murdered at The Standard. A reward of $50,000 led to an arrest, according to Thomas.
"I wouldn't want to hear that somebody who was trying to protect us was shot," he says. "If this person will shoot a policeman, he'll shoot anybody."
