On Thursday, June 6, the WeHo sandwich shop — owned by Vanderpump Rules Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix — received a surprise visit from the one and only Diane Keaton. The Oscar winner was photographed in the eatery alongside Katie’s mom, Teri Maloney.

Diane showed up in a very on-brand ensemble consisting of a brown plaid blazer, a tan bowler hat, a black turtleneck, and black-rimmed eyeglasses. Teri was rocking a black SAH-branded tee and, of course, a big ol’ smile.

“The incredible [Diane Keaton] just visited [Something About Her],” the Instagram Story was captioned.

Ariana reshared the photo on her own account and gushed over the incredible moment: “The absolute LEGEND that is [Diane Keaton],” she wrote. “I will never recover from this.”

Teri also reflected on Diane’s SAH stop in a June 7 Instagram post, saying she was so “excited” to meet the Hollywood star.

“I can’t even find the words,” her caption read in part. “My heart was pounding when I saw her walking towards me! She is incredibly friendly & fun…she made me feel like her new best friend! She always has been and continues to be one of my most favorite icon rom com legends!!”

Teri went on to confirm that the actress also ordered her namesake sandwich, “The Diane,” which consists of pumpernickel bread, Sicilian-style tuna salad with olive oil, sunflower microgreens, marinated fennel, preserved lemon, kalamata olives, and gem lettuce.

The visit marked a full-circle moment for Katie and Ariana’s sandwich shop, which was heavily inspired by Nancy Meyers films. The director has worked with Keaton on a number of projects, including Father of the Bride, Father of the Bride II, Baby Boom, and Something’s Gotta Give

When conceptualizing the shop’s interior, Katie reached out to Jon Hutman, a production designer who worked on many Meyers sets, including Something’s Gotta Give. Katie and Ariana spoke about the shop’s aesthetics and their overall vision in an exclusive tour video for BravoTV.com.

“That was the whole inspiration of this sandwich shop in general,” Katie said. “We wanted it to feel like main-character energy in a rom-com.”

“We also wanted it to feel like us,” Ariana explained. “We wanted it to feel very California yet European and —”

“California country meets European cafe,” Katie added.

Katie and Ariana launch their long-awaited sandwich shop

After a years-long wait, Katie and Ariana finally opened SAH on May 22. Although the launch has kept them quite busy, the business partners are already thinking long-term and plan to open additional shops across the globe.

“This one, we need it to be a smashing success because we would love to have more locations,” Katie told The Daily Dish in May. “In New York, ideally, and then everywhere else in the world.”
