Dorinda Medley: I Was 'Slightly Frightened' of Bethenny
The newest face on the block also says she acted as a "mediator" on the show.
When Real Housewives of New York City makes its return on Tuesday, there will be some very familiar faces (original housewife Bethenny Frankel makes her much-anticipated return!) and some fresh ones, including fashionista Dorinda Medley. Recently widowed and adjusting to life as an empty nester as her daughter Hanna goes off to school, Dorinda reveals to OK Magazine why she decided to join the show. "I thought, 'I'm turning 50, and I've never done anything like this.' So I decided to give it a go."
The socialite has been friends with Ramona Singer and Luann de Lesseps for years, but immediately bonded with another RHONY favorite. "Sonja Morgan and I hit it off right away because she's just so wacky," she says, before revealing that there was also some tension amongst the group. "I had some issues with Kristen Taekman," she reveals. "She's younger and comes from a different background, but we sorted things out."
One Housewife she was intimidated by? Bethenny Frankel. "I was very curious, and slightly frightened, to meet her," Dorinda confesses, "but we get along well. She brings back the old-school tone of the show, so I think she's a great addition."
Dorinda also reveals that she feels she "acted as a bit of a mediator" throughout the season. "I didn't think I'd play that role, but I tried to bring the girls together," she says.
