On May 27, Dr. Contessa took to Instagram to commemorate the special day. The doctor shared a slideshow featuring photos of the couple from throughout the years, starting with their wedding day. “No bulls--t marriage is tough... we ALL grow and change but the stakes are high to keep working at it,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “Keep it real, ask for help when necessary, and don’t stop communicating.”

She went on to add, “#HappyAnniversary to the magnificent man and father who chose to spend his life with me 16 years ago!@drscottmetcalfe knows I would take a bullet for him with no hesitation!”

Dr. Contessa concluded the message by writing, “Some days it’s like #WarOfTheRoses and others it’s like a #FairyTale and I’m Tiana from #ThePrincessandtheFrog. I didn’t hear a promise that #Marriage is easy but it’s #WorthIt ... its the stuff an #Empire is built from!”

This isn’t the only glimpse that Dr. Contessa and Dr. Scott have shared into their relationship in recent weeks. On May 23, Dr. Contessa shared another video featuring the couple, adding a series of hashtags like #DontGiveUpOnMe," "#DontGiveUpOnUs," "#familyandloyalty," "#honor," "#love," "#respect," and "#commitment."

Earlier this month, Dr. Scott also took to Instagram to share how proud he was of his wife after she delivered the commencement speech at her alma mater, Saint Louis University's School of Medicine.

"What an honor! Congratulations @drcontessa," he wrote at the time.
