The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Eva Marcille Had a Baby Shower Fit for a Prince
The model mom got ready to welcome her baby son with fiancé Michael Sterling and daughter Marley Rae.
Eva Marcille is getting ready to welcome her second child into the world, a boy, and she had quite the baby shower to commemorate this momentous occasion.
The celebration took place at 433 Bishop in Atlanta on Saturday, March 17. The royal-themed baby shower featured blue and gold decorations and desserts to commemorate the arrival of Eva's little prince, who will be named Michael Sterling Jr. after her fiancé, attorney and former candidate for mayor of Atlanta Michael Sterling. “Michael is a pretty easy going guy, he let me do all the planning for the shower," Eva told Us Weekly. "However [my daughter] Marley definitely had a say in the cake and dessert table.”
In addition to her fiancé and daughter enjoying the festivities, friends and family from all over the United States came to Atlanta to celebrate. Eva also invited several of The Real Housewives of Atlanta to take part in the baby shower, including NeNe Leakes, Kandi Burruss, Porsha Williams, and Cynthia Bailey. However, it appears that none of them attended the party. "Those are the girls I've bonded with so far that I feel close enough to invite to something so special for me," Eva told The Daily Dish last week ahead of her baby shower.
Eva's loved ones gifted her with so many amazing presents during the baby shower, including Timbaland boots, outfits, and a daddy diaper bag backpack, according to Us Weekly.
The RHOA newcomer couldn't contain her excitement about her upcoming baby shower when she spoke to The Daily Dish last week. "I'm excited about it," she shared. "It'll be a good time, good food, and cocktails I can't drink."
Eva joked that her baby shower wouldn't be "even close" to the pink-tastic party Khloe Kardashian had to celebrate the arrival of her baby girl on March 10. "We're just reasonable, middle class, and cute," Eva said with a laugh. "I think [Khloe]'s welcoming a girl, though, so hers is like really pink and just frilly and girly. I'm welcoming a boy, so mine is more prince-themed.”
The baby shower may have been a smaller affair, but it looks like it was no less special. "I don't want it to be too big because I don't want it to feel like a job where I have to go around and greet everyone," she said. "I do want it to be intimate and get an opportunity to enjoy the games and not overwhelm Dad. I'm trying to get him to come for a couple hours."
Eva announced that she would be welcoming her second child during an interview with PEOPLE in November 2017. This will be Eva's first child with her fiancé Michael. She also has a 4-year-old daughter, Marley Rae, from a previous relationship with Kevin McCall.
Eva recently told The Daily Dish that she's "super, duper excited" to welcome her son. "I've been cool my whole pregnancy. It's like, you know, it's my second time around. I know what I'm doing," she said. "My daughter was 31 hours in labor, like full pain, back labor, the whole nine. And for some reason, I kind of forgot about that, and now I'm remembering all of that, so there's just a little bit of anxiety. Not much, just a little bit."
Still, Eva said that she feels "as ready as I'm gonna be" for her son’s arrival. “There's not much I can do. I'm just gonna bite my teeth, grin and bear it, and Dad will be there feeding me ice chips," she shared. "So hopefully it'll all work out."
Eva said her fiancé is also "super excited" to experience the magic of childbirth for the first time, although he has a different way of showing it. "Now mind you, he's not like me. I'm super over-the-top, expressive, and he might have the feelings, but you can't tell. But I can tell that he was really into it when he sent me a text message and told me that he went to Baby Gap and bought all these clothes for the baby. He doesn't even buy clothes for himself; I buy his clothes. So the fact that he went and bought the baby clothes, I'm like, he's secretly excited," she said. "And then having a little boy, he's gonna be his namesake, he's gonna look like him, like the ultrasounds already look like him, so I think he's really excited."
Eva's daughter Marley is already prepared to take care of her little brother, carrying a crochet blanket around the house as if it were a baby. "Marley is so excited about being a big sister," Eva gushed. "We put together our fun, new, fancy stroller, and it's up in the house. So Marley puts the blanket in the stroller, and she goes around the house with it. And she's like, 'Mom, we'll be back. I'm taking the baby to the beach.' She goes around through the living room, through the dining room with the stroller. It's the cutest thing ever. She's, like really ready."
At least this time around, Eva knows what not to do as she prepares to give birth. "The biggest thing that I learned from being pregnant with Marley and now being pregnant with Mikey is [to] stop worrying. I remember being pregnant with Marley, and every single thing I'm like, 'What is she doing in there? Was that an elbow? Was that a knee? Is she kicking? Is she trying to get out?' I didn't know what was what. I was wondering if I was drinking something and if it was too cold for her or too hot. I was thinking way too much," Eva shared. "Now, I'm like, sit back, I eat whatever I want to. I'm like, 'It's cold, huh? Feels good doesn't it?' I just take it in stride. It's a lot different. I'm a lot less antsy."
