Fredrik Eklund: I'm Ready to Be a Dad!

The MDLNY star opens up about parenthood with husband Derek Kaplan.

Fredrik Eklund has some big news that he couldn't wait to share with the world. He's going to be a dad! The Million Dollar Listing New York star made the announcement over the weekend during a vacation with husband, artist Derek Kaplan.

"It's Friday night and we have just arrived," he wrote on Instagram. "It's a bit of a private moment but I'm going to share it anyway. We are drinking wine and Derek is watching the sunset from our pool. We have so much to celebrate, and yes, we are going to have kids and we are moving forward (!!!) and with that said we need to capture some last romantic getaways for just two... I'm so glad I gave it some time, waiting isn't my strong side, but we are now both ready. Anyway, we are sending you much love from paradise... #Milla"

While on their exotic vacation, Fredrik also revealed that the couple has found a new way to de-stress: Vedic meditation. With kids on the way, that might be a good thing.

"Derek and I recently took a course in Vedic meditation, and so far—in such a short period of time—it really has changed us," he wrote. "We do it together and must look really silly sitting with our eyes closed 30 min first thing in the morning and then another 30 min at night with the pups in our laps. It's unbelievable how much stress vaporizes when you start calming the mind and free it from thought and now, just a week into it, we are both happier, calmer, sleep and eat better, focus on what's important and don't try to fight the many things we can't control."

The road to parenthood hasn't always been easy for the couple, who married in 2013. Often times, with the cameras rolling, Fredrik and Derek have clashed over when to start a family, with Fredrik wanting to add children to their family right away.

In May, he addressed the issue in a blog post. "One thing I have to say is that when you are married, you are truly two people in every decision, and I think I’m not used to that fully, and I need to work on that," he wrote. "We both need to be better when it comes to that, actually."

Of course until the babies come along, they still have their adorable puppies to keep them busy.

I also have such a new (but old) love for all things nature. The craziest thing of all, I guess, is that my business seems to thrive on it too... New York real estate to me - I thought - was the opposite of stillness and a deeper consciousness. But it isn't. If you have ever thought of trying out meditation, but been a sceptic, I hope I have inspired at least one of you to try it today.

Reunited again back at home in New York, and it feels so good. Happiness really is two warm puppies... in bed.
