Gail Simmons: My Daughter 'Makes Fun of Us'

The #TopChef judge opens up about her 16-month-old daughter Dahlia Rae and how she playfully mocks her mom.

Gail Simmons might be one of the top foodies on Top Chef, but the chef admits that at home it's her daughter, Dahlia Rae, who rules the roost.

"Everything she says lately is so funny," Gail tells People. "Everything that comes out of her mouth is like half communication. She just absorbs's amazing."

Now 16 months, Dahlia Rae has found a particular way to entertain her mom. And from the sound of it, Gail has a budding comedian on her hands. "She mimics people and makes fun of us," Gail says. "She was trying to climb out of the tub the other day and I kept saying, 'No, no, no.' Then she'll look at me and wag her finger and say, 'No, no, no!' But she has a little wink in her eye. She knows it's funny."

Of course, Gail can't help but gush about her toddler. "She's just delicious," she says. "It's the most amazing age. I think I say this every time I talk to anyone about every age but I want to freeze her right now because she's so sweet."

In addition to her budding personality, just last month Gail opened up about her daughter's growing love and appreciation of all things food. "My baby eats everything," she shared about her daughter, who she described as "an adventurous eater."

"She's obsessed with veggies," Gail revealed at the time. "She eats all the veggies she can get down her throat. I really, really hope it sticks."
