Gina Kirschenheiter Has a “Serious Rant” About This Holiday Tradition
The Real Housewives of Orange County's Meghan King Owens also shares a glimpse at mom life during the holidays.
Gina Kirschenheiter is going all out to help spread holiday cheer for her kids. The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member, who is the mother to three children — Sienna Rose, Nick, and Luca — recently took to Instagram to give an adorable glimpse at the steps she had to take for her kids to believe in the magic of Christmas. And, of course, it involved a treasured holiday tradition that most parents can relate to: the Elf on the Shelf.
"Serious rant real quick!! The struggle is real! What moms feel me right now?!?" Gina wrote in the caption of her December 19 post, which featured a video explaining the obstacles that stood in the way of her very creative Elf on the Shelf strategy.
"My Elf on the Shelf game this year is real," she said in her video, spilling all the elf drama. Gina shared how she told her kids that if they covered candies in sugar overnight, they'd be met with some morning magic by none other than the mischievous elves who, as we all know, report every child's move back to Santa. Apparently, Gina's idea to magically have donuts appear proved to be more complicated than she originally thought when the doughnut shop closed early, as she explained in her rant. "It's 11 o'clock at night and I drive to the doughnut shop, which says it's open 'til midnight, I expect it to be open!" Gina said in her video, adding, "I'll see you at 5 [a.m.]!"
Though her plan proved to be a bit tedious, it was definitely worth it, as Gina revealed her kids' surprise and joy later in her Instagram Stories, writing, "Mission accomplished!"
Gina isn't the only RHOC mom trying to get creative for the holidays. Recently, RHOC alum Meghan King Owens took to Instagram to share her own ideas (and mom mishaps) involved in hiding Christmas gifts from her kids. "Can we just take the pressure off and enjoy the season? And a little sleuthing never hurt anyone," Meghan wrote in the caption of her December 20 video, which outlined how she hid presents from her little ones. As she reveals in the fun video, her hiding spot was eventually discovered by her daughter, Aspen, after the 5-year-old found the gift in the closet.
And Meghan has also previously shared her own feelings about the Elf on the Shelf. In a December 13 Instagram post, which featured a festive picture with her mom, sister, niece, and three children — daughter Aspen and twin sons, Hart and Hayes — the RHOC mom wrote, "Aspen asked Santa to send her an elf on the shelf. Nooooo!!!!!! WE DO ENOUGH. How can I avoid this?"
