Gwen Stefani may be in love with Blake Shelton, but she’s still reeling from the pain of her divorce. The Make Me Like You singer was promoting her new album, This is What The Truth Feels Like, when she delved into her breakup with rocker Gavin Rossdale.
"I have gone through a lot," Gwen said on Good Morning America. "But I feel like, that is, you have to be grateful for that. Because if I didn't do that, then I wouldn't have this. And so you have to be grateful for all of it."
Gwen, who shares three sons with her ex-husband, said she had no choice but to turn her pain into music.
“I think that I just .... I can't even find the words. I felt like, 'Wow, I can't go down. This is not who I am. I'm not going to fail,” she said. "I had to make something good out of it. So I tried to write because I know that that was my gift. And I was like, 'I'm going to do this. I'm going to make this into music.’”
The former No Doubt frontwoman said that she was finding it hard to even get out of bed during the dark days, and that she was simply trying “not to die.” She divorced Gavin after 13 years of marriage after it was alleged he had an affair with the couple’s nanny. Gwen has described the split as a “really good, juicy story.”
