If anyone knows the right and wrong ways to wear shapewear, it's Heather Thomson. The Real Housewives of New York City star is, of course, the woman behind the Yummie Tummie brand of shapewear and active wear.
Now fans can learn her rules to looking great no matter what. Her first edict, according to Access Hollywood, "I always tell women it’s important to know your right size."
By not following that mandate, she notes, "Trying to size down will only cause discomfort, and can actually make you appear larger. A great tip to keep in mind when shopping in any department is confidence – if you feel it on the inside, others will see it on the outside!"
Next she says, the "right foundation is so important for everyone of all shapes and size." She suggests women buy a smoothing tank, a slip that shapes and a bottom that helps to slim.
Though she warns "just make sure the pieces are designed correctly for your shape… My goal has been to modernize the idea of shaping foundations and design them as essentials -- those pieces you wear everyday -- but not limited to undergarments."
She's also a big fan of leggings and suggests women buy a pair that can also be used "to smooth and slim those stems throughout the day."
If fashion lovers take anything from her advice, it should probably be this: "As we transition into the fall and Holiday season, remember we shouldn't lean on our shapewear to 'define' us, it should 'compliment' us!"
