Back in 2014, Meryl Streep tackled the role of the Witch in the film version of Into the Woods. She was one of the many A-listers recruited to headline the movie, based on Stephen Sondheim's classic musical. But she was the only one whose role had also been played by the equally-legendary Bernadette Peters.
Bernadette appeared on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday (July 8), where she offered up her thoughts on Meryl's take on the iconic part. "I really liked it a lot," she said. "First of all, so people want to know how I felt, I felt that she's such a brilliant actress that I found it very interesting to watch how a brilliant actress performed a role that I knew very well. I'm thinking, 'Now what did she do in that moment? Now how did she get... what did she get out of that? How did she do that one?' ... I really enjoyed it."
BTW, you can do a little comparing yourself by watching both ladies perform the song "Last Midnight" below.
