Is Candiace Dillard Bassett Paying Her Own Mortgage?
The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member shares an update on her relationship with her mother, Dorothy.
Candiace Dillard Bassett previously announced her intentions for her and husband Chris Bassett to take over their entire house mortgage. Prior to this, The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member's mother, Dorothy, had been paying part of their mortgage. However, Candiace recently revealed that is no longer the case, and she and Chris have taken over the payments entirely. So, has it improved her rocky relationship with Dorothy?
In a word: no. "I think everyone had this idea that taking over the mortgage was going to be the solution to a lot of our problems. I knew different, and I would say that, but people think they know the parameters of the relationship and they put their two cents in. It's still rocky," Candiace revealed on The Real Housewives of Potomac After Show.
Yes, despite cutting ties financially, the two are still at odds. Candiace explained, "We are paying the full mortgage; she still refers and references things that she's done or that she's doing — well she's not doing anything anymore financially — but things that she had done, from my pageant career and spending the hundreds of thousands of dollars on my pageant career, which she did, to helping me buy the home to my nails and my hair and the fashions and putting me through dance classes and cheer and everything that she's done for me that has contributed to who I am today and I'm really happy that she's done that, but it's just exhausting."
