About a decade ago, Martha Stewart and Donald Trump crossed paths in the world of The Apprentice. Back in 2005, the domestic goddess and the TV tycoon-turned-presidential candidate both had versions of the show airing concurrently on NBC. And with Trump now a Republican presidential hopeful, Martha weighed in on his latest career move.
"I have vowed not to talk about Donald Trump. No [we're not buddies]," she said when she stopped by Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday (September 9), before chatting a bit about their history. "I did once [take over The Apprentice]. I was supposed to take it over then. But then he decided he liked it too much. I was supposed to fire him on air. That was [producer] Mark Burnett's idea. That's why I agreed to do Martha Stewart: Apprentice. And then Donald liked it too much and it was fantastic for him. It's built him a platform. So now he thinks he can be president."
