The #Shahs star opens up about what influenced his decision to call off the wedding and what the future holds.

”I honestly didn’t feel like getting married was the right thing to do,” he tells E! News. “We had unresolved issues that needed to be addressed. Otherwise, there was a good chance the old, cheating Reza would have reared his head.”

The Shahs of Sunset star also revealed on the After Show that his family history played a part in his difficult decision too. “I sound like a broken record, but I come from a broken home and I have a lot of reservations about getting married,” he says. “When I get married I want to make sure that there are no issues on the table and that it’s for keeps.”

After he self-admittedly blindsided Adam with his decision, Reza continued to make the trip to Thailand—which caused some major uncertainty for the couple.

“I didn’t leave in a fight but there was a lot of tension because I kind of left and I said, ‘I’m going on this trip, I’m going to use this time to think, reflect, figure my s*** out and come back and hopefully get on track to a better place,” he explains on the After Show. “Whether that’s marriage, us breaking up, us just working on our relationship; I didn’t know. So it was very hard for him. Not only am I leaving, but anything could happen when I get back.”

Reza admits that it was the trip to Thailand that actually rekindled his romantic connection with Adam. “Honestly, being in Thailand with my crazy crew and seeing how dysfunctional Asifa and Bobby were made me realize how great my relationship with Adam is,” he says.

”Adam actually Skyped with me on the day we were supposed to get married, despite the pain he was in,” he says. “The smile and the love then shone through made me want to go home and fix things. We started communicating a lot more and trying to make our foundation stronger.”

So where do they stand now? “I’m happy to report that things are totally back on track and we’re hoping to marry in the near future,” he says.
