This Is Jackie Goldschneider's Article, Inspired by Jennifer Aydin, That Caused a Stir on RHONJ
The Real Housewives of New Jersey ladies open up about parenting and spoiling their kids.
They say the pen is mightier than the sword, and that is definitely the case on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Whether it was a book alleging to expose secrets about Danielle Staub's past or Teresa Giudice and Jacqueline Laurita's friendship-ending argument over tabloid magazines, the written word always has a way of causing drama among the Garden State gals.
Season 9 of RHONJ is no exception. Jackie Goldschneider made waves this season with an article she wrote titled, "Do Too Many Gifts Create Spoiled Children?" You can check out the post in full over at NorthJersey.com.
Jackie begins the article by sharing that she recently went to a get-together at her friend's new home. She then went on to describe it as an "enormous estate" with "tremendous" rooms, including a gym, spa, indoor basketball court, movie theater, and "a bouncy castle bigger than my home." "'When kids come here they never want to leave,' my friend proudly announced, which made me wonder: Can kids grow up having everything they want and still turn into humble, appreciative adults? Do too many gifts create spoiled children?" Jackie wrote.
That sounded all too familiar to many in the RHONJ crew, who had a feeling Jackie was really talking about Jennifer Aydin and their tour of her Paramus Palace with their kids earlier this season. And Jennifer was none too pleased with what she perceived as Jackie criticizing her parenting. Not only did Jennifer confront Jackie at Joey Gorga's communion celebration on RHONJ, but it also looks like the ladies won't be moving on from this drama anytime soon, as evidenced by this sneak peek of an all-new episode coming up next Wednesday at 9/8c.
Jennifer defended her parenting on Twitter as Wednesday night's episode of RHONJ aired. "I love my kids-as does any mother-I have the ability to give them a life that I always wished I had- this is new to me people! I didn’t come from this so sue me if it happens to be my joy to reward them," she tweeted. "But they are generous, sweet [and] compassionate [and] I’m very proud of them."
She also admitted in The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 9 After Show, "I think I spoil my kids. I don't think my kids are spoiled... So they're spoiled in the way that I give them love and attention, but they're not spoiled to the point where they feel entitled or better than anybody else or bratty."
Jackie also said in her article and in the After Show that she is guilty of showering her children with presents, as are many parents. She also confirmed that her visit to Jennifer's house was the inspiration behind her article, but she stands by her decision to not tell her friend about it ahead of time. "I didn't tell Jennifer about the article because the article says nothing about Jennifer Aydin or Jennifer Aydin's children or the biggest house in Paramus or 16 bathrooms," Jackie said in the After Show. "So I didn't feel like I needed to tell Jennifer about the article. Yes, maybe like our group of friends knows it's about her, but the rest of the world who reads these articles, they go online, it goes in two newspapers, nobody knows my connection to Jennifer Aydin. So nobody would know that it is about my playdate at her house."
However, Jennifer still doesn't believe Jackie handled the situation properly. "I don't expect her to ask my permission. She's a journalist," Jennifer shared in the After Show. "But if she was proud of her article and not being shady about it, she could've given me the head's up. Yes, I would've been pissed, but I would have respected her for coming to me."
