Nicole Kidman and Milo Ventimiglia Are the Spice Girls Members We Never Knew We Needed
So who got to be Posh Spice in this epic celebrity cover performance?
The Spice Girls' breakout hit "Wannabe" turns 21 this week, and the momentous occasion has been toasted by a varied crew of celebrities assembled by W Magazine to present a dramatic reading slash cover performance of the enduring '90s anthem.
One highlight of note is Nicole Kidman, whose kittenish reading suggests that she'd make a good Saucy Spice (if that had actually been one of the personas).
Many of the female stars who participated in the video love Posh Spice (AKA Victoria Beckham) the best, Nicole included. "I wore one of her dresses recently and I was, like, 'Oh, this is heaven.' It had the whole back out of it," she said. Brit Marling echoed Nicole's sentiment, telling the publication, "I liked her obsession with the little black dress. I thought it was very demure. Then she turns out to be a great designer."
But the gentlemen, it would seem, prefer blondes. "Baby Spice? Was that the blonde?" asked Alexander Skarsgaard. "Yeah, she was my favorite."
"The one that pops into my head is Baby Spice, but I don't know why," said James Franco, who admitted that he kind of missed the Spice Girls boat the first time around. "I guess maybe I'm drawn to blondes, I don't know."
Meanwhile, at least one of the original members is working on new music in the studio right now: Ginger Spice (Geri Horner), who is currently very brunette.
