James Kennedy Marks One Year of Sobriety: "I’m So Grateful for Everything Now"

This week is a big one for James Kennedy, who marked a major milestone in his personal life: The DJ celebrated being one year sober. James opened up about his sobriety and how it changed his life for the better on Instagram — with a special shout out for his girlfriend, Raquel Leviss.

"Hey everyone just wanted to let you all know I’ve made it to my one year sober Today!" he wrote earlier this week. "Letting go of drinking was the best decision I ever made and I’m going strong. I don’t miss the booze. I don’t miss the feeling. I’m so grateful for everything now and life has become more beautiful in many ways."

He continued, "Thank you to my rock @raquelleviss for getting me here I couldn’t of done this without you my love. And thank you all for the support this past year."

Raquel didn't pass up the chance to shout out her boyfriend's accomplishment on Instagram, writing, "Today James is 1 year sober! Lots to celebrate but most important is the love you show me every single day."

James has previously addressed why he was ready to quit drinking. He noted that last year he was more than ready to change and "get better and actually try working on myself for real."

"It really is that easy. Once you want to really stop drinking, you can," he said in that interview.
