Brittany Cartwright Calls Tom Sandoval "Not a Real Friend"

On the February 18 episode of Vanderpump Rules, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright were confronted by their friends and Lisa Vanderpump regarding controversial, homophobic comments made by the pastor they had originally hired to officiate their wedding in June 2019.

While it was definitely a hot topic among the crew, this drama especially caused a lot of tension between Jax and his longtime friend, Tom Sandoval (clip above), who was also in the wedding party.

The topic came up again on Twitter the night the episode aired. Jax tweeted: "We did [take care of it and fire him]. It’s our wedding it’s our choice. Period... We did what was right for Brittany and I. What Tom did was wrong, again, just like Stassi’s  party, he had no tact," Jax told his fans on social media. "That’s the last I’ll say about this."

Katie Maloney-Schwartz, who served as the Matron of Honor while her husband, Tom Schwartz, acted as best man for Jax, also opened up about it on Twitter.

"Listen. We were all APALLED by the pastor's posts he put out. There’s no ifs ands or buts about that. It was Jax and Brittany's wedding after all and you don’t put your friends on trial two weeks before their wedding," she said in response to Sandoval's actions about the matter. "Ultimately they made the best choice for THEM [and] THEIR wedding."

Brittany addressed the controversy on an episode of WWHL in January 2019, several months before they wed in Kentucky. "I’m not going to say too much, but I will say that I’m a huge supporter and always will be of the LGBTQ community and no matter what I would never try to ever make anybody feel uncomfortable,” she explained at that time. "I talked to him myself and he promised me that he was not that way, that he was not saying anything about the community whatsoever. I’ve known this man for years, and if it was anything that I felt otherwise, I would never choose somebody like that.”

They did eventually decide to not include him in the wedding. They confirmed he was fired in the episode this week, and instead they had Lance Bass officiate their nuptials (more on that below).
