Here's How Gage Edward Reacted to Jeff Lewis Sharing the News of Their Separation

The Flipping Out designer saw his ex soon after he announced the news on his radio show Jeff Lewis Live.

By Laura Rosenfeld

Jeff Lewis was his usual candid self when he announced the news that he and his partner of a decade, Gage Edward, had separated and moved out of their home on the January 31 episode of his Radio Andy show Jeff Lewis Live. So of course we immediately wondered how Gage felt about Jeff sharing the news of their breakup with fans.

Jeff revealed during the February 1 episode of Jeff Lewis Live that Gage came by the house the day of the announcement. "I'll be honest with you. I did talk to Gage yesterday. He was at the house and we put the baby down together and we talked a little bit in the kitchen before he went back to his hotel room. He said, 'You know, I really feel like by you announcing that, it made things final,'" Jeff shared. "And I said, 'You know, I don't think that it actually made it final. I think every single person we know is hoping for a reconciliation.'"

According to Jeff, just because he and Gage have publicly ended their relationship doesn't mean they can't one day get back together. "I don't think anyone would be upset if we worked it out in a month or two or three or four or five," he said.

Jeff also opened up a little bit more about why he and Gage needed to take a break, even if the couple recently had "a good trip" to Los Angeles that made the Flipping Out designer think they "were on the right track." "It is called the 'Gage Edward Roller Coaster.' And what happens is, one day, he loves you, the next day, he doesn't. One day, he's attracted to you, the next day he [isn't]. One day he wants to sleep in your room, the next day he doesn't," Jeff explained. "I am a gay human yo-yo, and I'm sick of being a gay yo-yo. I don't want to be a yo-yo anymore. So that's why I got off the 'Gage Edward Roller Coaster.'"

When Jeff announced their separation last week, he revealed that Gage had moved out of the home they share with their 2-year-old daughter, Monroe, and into a hotel. “This has been a long time coming," Jeff said during his radio show. "We were in separate rooms a significant portion of last year, so it was kind of like a roommate situation."

One of the reasons Jeff and Gage had been staying together was for the sake of their daughter. When asked by a caller if he and Gage had thought about a custody arrangement for Monroe if they do ultimately break up, Jeff said, "Oh, god, I don't even want to go there. Honestly, I'm hoping that the guy wakes up. I'm hoping that he wakes up. I'm hoping that he sits in that hotel room alone, he misses his family, he misses his life, starts focusing on the positive, and stops focusing on the negative. So let's just pray."
