Jennifer Aydin Shares an Update on Where She Stands with Her Mom Now

The RHONJ cast member has been open about the tension in her family following her parents' relationship troubles.

By Hannah Chambers

This season, Jennifer Aydin has shared her family’s struggle as her parents navigate some challenges in their relationship. The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member has found herself caught in the middle of her parents as tensions rise between them, and recently shared an update on how the family is doing now.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 14 premiere May 5th at 8/7c on Bravo and stream next day on Peacock.

“My mother and I, we got into a fight a couple of months ago and we haven’t spoken since,” Jennifer revealed during an interview with ET Online. “She does not answer my father’s calls at all. She wants nothing to do with my father. I think she blames the fight that I had with her on my father—which, it technically is because of my father—but ultimately, it’s because my mom just can’t accept the fact that I’m trying to make everybody happy here. And she doesn’t care if I make her happy. She just wants to make sure I don’t make my father happy. And for me, I don’t want to choose sides.”

Jennifer also opened up about some insight her mother shared with her about why she chose not to get divorced.

“They don’t believe in divorce,” explained Jennifer. “My mom was telling me, ‘If I divorced your dad when I wanted to, none of you would ever have gotten married to somebody from our community,’ because I would have been from a ‘broken home,’ so to speak, and the people from my culture—even if the guy liked me—the guy’s family probably wouldn’t like me because they would say, ‘Oh no, she’s from a divorced family, which means they repeat behaviors, so let’s stay away from her.’ So my mom looks at it as a sacrifice and she did. She sacrificed so much for her children.”

Despite the difficult time her parents are going through, Jennifer remains focused on trying to find a way to make things work for everyone.

“My mother has started therapy and we are starting family therapy together. I think that’s going to be a great way for us to integrate back into each other’s lives,” she said.

On the March 17 episode of the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen After Show, Jennifer shared her best piece of advice for handling family drama.

“You can’t take things too seriously,” she explained in the clip, above. “And I feel like if you have an open mind and you have an open line of communication, then that makes the world go round. So talk to your children, folks!”
