Kandi Burruss and Xscape Announced Their First New Show Date in Forever

You're gonna want to head to New Orleans this summer.

By Tamara Palmer

Fans of Xscape, the '90s R&B group that launched the music and songwriting career of a young Kandi Burruss before her The Real Housewives of Atlanta days, have had a lot to get excited about lately. The original members (Kandi, Tameka "Tiny" Harris, and sisters LaTocha and Tamika Scott) announced that they plan to reunite and recently broadcast their first meeting in decades, while two biopics (one official and one controversial) are currently in the works.

And now, there's an official date for their first full live show: Xscape has joined the lineup of the 2017 ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans alongside notables like Diana Ross, Mary J. Blige, Solange Knowles, Jill Scott, and John Legend. They'll close out the three-day festival on July 2.

"The ESSENCE Festival is iconic," Kandi told ESSENCE. "To me, I felt like it was the perfect place for us to reach people from all over. It's a big deal to be at the ESSENCE Festival."

Tamika Scott also revealed to the publication that the official biopic should be out next year, which is the 25th anniversary of their first single "Just Kickin' It," and the film will contain new and original Xscape songs.

While life, motherhood, and other interests have taken the ladies of Xscape on different paths over the years, hearing them harmonize in this video shows that they have already really started coming together for a new chapter.
