Kate Chastain Opens up About Her "Disappointing" Discussion with Captain Lee Rosbach
How does Captain Lee feel about this Below Deck Season 6 moment today?
As if the departure of not one, but two crew members wasn't enough in Tuesday night's episode of Below Deck, we witnessed another rare sight during the episode when Captain Lee Rosbach gave Kate Chastain a bit of a stern talking-to after her third stew, Caroline Bedol, exited the charter season. Since their tense discussion about that infamous "rocket ship" blanket fold in Season 2 of Below Deck, we've really only seen Kate and Captain Lee have a great relationship on and off the boat.
So we were definitely surprised to see them come at odds like this, as was Kate herself. "It was disappointing," Kate said of the moment during an interview with The Daily Dish prior to the episode airing. "I was really hurt."
Kate said it felt like Captain Lee was trusting Caroline's word over her own, even though he has worked with her for years and only worked a few weeks with the third stew. Though the moment temporarily strained Kate's relationship with Captain Lee, they eventually got back on track. "Finally, we had a talk and I explained this to him. He apologized and he's sorry," Kate said. "They always say like sometimes fights can make your relationship stronger, and you always kind of think that's just what you say to make it feel better, but it really did! It really did."
Captain Lee said during the Below Deck After Show that he regrets having that meeting with Kate (clip above). "Looking back on it, would I have handled it differently? Yeah. I wouldn't have confronted Kate," he explained. "I wasn't there, I couldn't verify anything that was said, I wasn't privy to see anything. To me, I made a mistake."
Kate opens up more about her conversation with Captain Lee in the below clip from Tuesday night's Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
