Kate Chastain just added two new members to her family: pet birds.
The Below Deck alum, who welcomed son Sullivan Cay Chastain in May 2023, just adopted finches named Celine and Rene. She confirmed the exciting news on her Instagram Stories.
"At this point, what difference is [two] more things to keep alive going to make," Kate joked in the caption of one Instagram Story photo featuring her two new pets.
Kate shared another glimpse at the birds in a second Instagram Story snapshot.
"Welcome to the family Celine and Rene," she wrote.
The former chief stew also posted a picture of her adorable one-and-a-half year old son smiling from ear to ear, perhaps at the discovery that he had two new family members.
Kate then posted a picture of her first pet, a Havanese dog named Halo, spending time in the living room of her Florida home.
Back in late July, Kate exclusively told The Daily Dish that she was planning on getting pet finches for her son.
"We are this week going to get some pet finches, which I think will be very exciting for him to see them chirping and hopping around," Kate said, though she ended up deciding to wait a few months to buy the birds.
In the meantime, Kate was swapping out some of her furniture in order to make her space more kid-friendly for her mobile son. "So out with the dangerous coffee tables [and] in with the pets," she joked about the finches. "Let's just take care of more living things. Why not?"
Why did Kate Chastain get pet birds?
The Traitors alum teased that buying her son some pet birds would be a smart decision for her in the long run. "You know, anything that's entertaining for him buys me some free time," she told The Daily Dish.
Based on Kate's recent photo of her son and his wide smile, it looks like she was right to think that he would love the finches.
Kate Chastain opens up about being a mom to Sullivan Cay
Elsewhere in her chat with The Daily Dish, Kate spoke about how much her life has changed since becoming a mom.
"This is going to sound like I was naive, but I thought it would only be slightly more difficult than having a dog," she said before laughing. "And it surprises me how it affects every aspect of your life. Driving, eating, sleeping, everything. But also surprising is you don't even mind because you just love them so much."
