Below Deck Fans Have a Theory on Why Kate Chastain and Kevin Dobson Don't Get Along
The chief stew dislikes the chef so much, she'd rather have Leon Walker onboard.
There's always drama in the galley on Below Deck, but it has reached new levels of intensity in Season 7 as Kate Chastain and Kevin Dobson clash over service for the charter guests.
Noticing Kate's disdain for Kevin, one fan wondered during the December 16 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen if she would rather work with him or Below Deck Season 3 chef Leon Walker, whom she has named on several occasions as her least favorite crew member of all time. "Honestly, Leon, because he didn't speak very much at all, which was better than Kevin speaking so much," Kate said.
Kate didn't miss a chance to throw some shade at Kevin, either. "I mean, Kevin's like a Pinterest recipe chef," she quipped. "He says I don't have foodie taste, but he makes chicken parm."
Andy Cohen then presented a theory floating among Below Deck fans that the root of Kate and Kevin's conflict is actually sexual tension. "I think it's definitely not for me, and I'm pretty sure it's definitely not for Kevin," Kate said. "I just don't think that either of us even wants to be around each other."
So you may be surprised to hear that Kevin actually had some nice things to say about Kate during the Below Deck Season 7 After Show, which you can check out, above.
"Kate was really good in this situation. She set up a fan on one of the benches, and we just blew it straight out the door," Kevin said of Kate coming to his rescue when there was a problem with the ventilation system in the galley in the December 16 episode of Below Deck. "Kate sorted me out then. She's always been kind of a trooper in those situations. Seeing the funny side of things and just to kind of bring me out of the 'oh my f--king god' situation she's really good at."
