Kathy Griffin Has Fun With Jay-Z and Beyonce's Baby
Were "Periwinkle Daisy" and "Aqua Lily" in the running?
While Hollywood's elite flocked to Twitter to welcome Jay-Z and Beyonce's bundle of joy, Blue Ivy Carter, into the world, Kathy Griffin, instead, focused on the tot's unusual (but tame by celebrity standards) moniker.
"Names for Beyonce + Jay-Z's spawn that didn't make the cut: Periwinkle Daisy, Aqua Lily, Purchased In Angola," the host of the upcoming Kathy tweeted.
The mega-wealthy baby's colorful first name is rumored to be inspired by papa Jay's Blueprint albums and favorite hue, and her middle name is said to be a play on the Roman numeral IV. Four holds special significance to the couple, who were married on 4/4, B's birthday is September 4, her husband's is December 4, and she released an album titled 4.
And it didn't take long for Blue Ivy to get into the family business, thanks to daddy Hova's track "Glory feat. B.I.C.," which features sounds of the newborn crying and contains the lyrics, "You don't yet know what swag is but you was made in Paris / And mama woke up the next day and shot an album package."
Sadly, the song also references the couple’s early pregnancy struggles. "Last time, the miscarriage was so tragic/ We was afraid you disappeared, but nah, baby, you magic."
Rest assured, little Blue will be rolling in the green. "It will be hard not to spoil you rotten, looking like a little me. The most beautifulest thing in this world is daddy’s little girl," J rapped. Mazel, Carters!
