UPDATE (June 6, 2018, 1:20 P.M.): On Wednesday (June 6), Kim confirmed that her mission to get Alice Johnson granted clemency from the president worked. TMZ and Mic reports that Trump signed off on her release from Aliceville Correctional Facility in Alabama, which should take place in the near future and will soon head home. Kim also tweeted about the report: "BEST NEWS EVER!!!!"
She added: "So grateful to [Trump], Jared Kushner & to everyone who has showed compassion & contributed countless hours to this important moment for Ms. Alice Marie Johnson. Her commutation is inspirational & gives hope to so many others who are also deserving of a second chance."
UPDATE (May 31, 2018, 10:09 A.M.): Kim did, in fact, meet with Trump on Wednesday, as he confirmed on Twitter and had been previously confirmed by White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders in her daily press briefing earlier that day, according to PEOPLE: “She is expected to be here at the White House. I can confirm that she will be here. We’ll keep you posted on any meetings that take place and what those look like.”
The president also tweeted a photo of his meeting with the reality star in the Oval Office: "Great meeting with [Kim Kardashian] today, talked about prison reform and sentencing."
NBC News also shared footage of her arriving at the White House in her black suit.
The meeting was significant as it marked Alice Johnson's birthday, which Kim commemorated on Twitter. PEOPLE reports that Alice has previously addressed Kim's support of her in an essay for CNN as she continues to serve a life sentence connected to a first-time drug offense: “Some refer to prison as a place where hope dies. Some days I’ve found that to be almost right. Each time that I’ve come close [to giving up], God has restored my faith. So when the unlikely voices of Kim Kardashian West and Jared Kushner came together to shine a spotlight on my case, I could only thank God, for he works in mysterious ways."

Kim Kardashian is hoping to use her A-list status for some good. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star is set to meet with President Donald Trump on Wednesday. The topic: prison reform. Kim has been vocal in advocating for the pardon of a 62-year-old great-grandmother, Alice Johnson, who is currently serving a life sentence without parole for a first-time drug offense, according to Vanity Fair. She's been in prison for more than 21 years.
VF reports that the meeting with the President comes after months of talks with Jared Kushner behind the scenes. Kim first learned of Johnson's story on Twitter. She was then introduced to Kushner after reaching out to Ivanka Trump. She has previously explained, if given a face-to-face like this, she would “explain to [Trump] that, just like everybody else, we can make choices in our lives that we’re not proud of and that we don’t think through all the way.” No cameras, publicists, or anyone else from her famous family, Kanye included, will be with her for the meeting. Following the meeting, VF reports that she will have dinner with Jared and Ivanka at their home.
Kim is the second Kardashian this year who is bringing her pet cause to Washington. Back in April, Kourtney Kardashian appeared on Capitol Hill to support legislation that would empower the FDA to regulate personal care products. "It would be nice if we didn't have to guess as much," she said at the time. "If there were regulations to know that the products that we're using are safe."
Who would have guessed the Kardasian-Wests would emerge as one of America's great political families?
