The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member has been on an emotional rollercoaster after announcing a split from Mauricio Umansky, her husband of nearly 30 years; introducing viewers to her new best friend, Morgan Wade; cutting out alcohol from her life; and getting new tattoos.

The tears haven't stopped yet. In a recent interview with E! News, Kyle opened up about the moment last year that made her cry. But viewers might be surprised to learn that it has nothing to do with her husband or her recent life changes. In fact, it had something to do with Jamie Lee Curtis.

While it's possible that Kyle has sobbed a lot in this past year, she opened up about what made her tear up last year while hosting E!'s Oscars After Party on Sunday, March 10.

It was actually watching her longtime friend, actress, Jamie Lee , accept an Oscar at the 95th Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Everything, Everywhere All at Once back in 2023. Jamie Lee appeared on stage this year at the 96th Academy Awards to present the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, which was a highlight of the show for Kyle.

"I loved seeing her up there, and it was taking me back to last year when she won and I was sobbing, like a baby," she explained. "Because, for me, to have known her all of my life, practically, and to see her take that award and it's so touching to me, and it's such an exciting time in her life so. Just seeing her up there tonight."

Kyle Richards' Acting Career

Kyle and Jamie Lee go way back to a time where Kyle was a kid actress just trying to make it in Hollywood. Kyle made her TV debut on the show, Police Woman, at the young age of five. From there, she went on to have guest roles in Police Story, Carter County, and a recurring role on Little House on the Prairie

But her most notable role came in 1978, when she played Lindsey Wallace in the horror film, Halloween, where she acted alongside Jamie Lee Curtis who played Laurie. Kyle reprised her role for the sequelsHalloween Kills in 2021 and Halloween Ends in 2022, where she got to reunite with Jamie Lee.

"Lindsey and Laurie are the original survivors of this and you know, it's only fitting that all these years later, we're here together," she said in a video, posted to her Instagram account in September 2022.

"And just seeing not only how Kyle and Jamie's relationship has evolved over these years, but Lindsey's and Laurie's, it's just, we're in a very unique position. I mean, how many people can say, 'Oh we played these characters in 1978 and now this is our third film together?'"

After first appearing in Halloween together, Kyle and Jamie Lee remained close friends throughout the decades leading up to their return for the sequels. Jamie Lee has appeared on RHOBH several times throughout the years, making her first appearance on RHOBH in Season 4 and most recently in Season 12.

In an Instagram post, shared to her account in September 2022, Jamie Lee said that she's known Kyle for 44 years. "She has grown up to be a really stunning human," she wrote in the caption of the post.
