5. Lady Gaga Attends VMAs on the Skinny Arm of Kermit the Frog
When Lady Gaga emerged from her limo outside the 2009 MTV VMAs, she was smooching a familiar but unexpected companion: Kermit the Frog. "He's been a really good date," Gaga said at the time. The Frog, for his part, insisted he was still loyal to Miss Piggy: "We're just friends!"
4. Lady Gaga Fights Madonna on Saturday Night Live
The perceived rivalry between the Queen of Pop and the Mother Monster is a favorite topic for bloggers and pop fanatics, and the two superstars gave everyone something to gab about by appearing on SNL together in October 2009 — and play fighting for the cameras. "What the hell is a disco stick?" Madonna demands. "I think you know," Gaga responds as the two tussle in good fun.
3. Lady Gaga Suffers Concussion, Keeps Singing
Critics and fans often say Lady Gaga is a fearless performer, and she got a chance to really prove it in June 2012, when one of her dancers accidentally bonked her in the head with a heavy piece of scenery during a live performance of "Judas." Gaga paused for a split second and finished the song, so few in attendance realized just how injured she was. "I did hit my head and I think I may have a concussion, but don’t you worry, I will finish this show," she told fans before carrying on for an additional 15 minutes.
2. Lady Gaga Asks Cher to Hold Her Meat Purse at the VMAs
When Gaga stepped onstage at the 2010 MTV VMAs to accept her award for Best Video, she was outfitted entirely in raw meat — which meant, of course, that she had a matching meat bag, which she then passed to presenter Cher in exchange for her trophy. Lady Gaga's killer opening line: "I never thought I'd be asking Cher to hold my meat purse."
1. Lady Gaga Arrives at Grammys in Giant Egg
Okay, so it wasn't actually an egg, as everyone assumed (she clarified it was a "vessel"), but it was the most remarkable trip down the Grammy red carpet in recent memory. After Gaga emerged from the pod (which she claimed she'd "incubated" in for 72 hours prior to the awards show), she performed her second album's title track, "Born This Way."
