Lala Kent Says There's a "Ginormous Difference" Between Her "Summer Bodies" Comment and James Kennedy's Behavior

The Vanderpump Rules SURver is not here for your comparisons.

Will James Kennedy Ever Fix Himself?

Oh, what a difference two years makes! Lala Kent is tight with just about everyone in the Vanderpump Rules crew now, but this is a far cry from where she stood with the group at the beginning of Season 5, as evidenced by that time they turned her and James Kennedy away when they showed up to an event.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

Vanderpump Rules fans know what happened next. Lala and James refused to leave and caused even more drama when they started commenting on everyone's appearance. "I can see that everybody here has not been working on their summer bodies," Lala uttered the now-infamous phrase.

Since then, Lala has made amends with the SUR squad, while James, well, has not. He has continued to come under fire this season for making inappropriate comments about Katie Maloney-Schwartz, which has put a strain on his friendship with nearly everyone in the group, including Lala.

But some fans have wondered about Lala being so upset about James' behavior, given the fact that she has made similar comments in the past. Lala addressed this burning question during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Tuesday night (clip above). "I'm so over this. That was such a long time ago," she said. "We're focusing on what's happening right now. I'm not still calling her those things; I apologized. And I'm the type of person where if you apologize, that means you're not gonna do it again. So there's a ginormous difference. This is still happening today, last week, yesterday, right now [with James]."

Katie, who has been at odds with Lala in the past, agreed with the SUR hostess' assessment on WWHL. "Yeah, we've all done that, but when you apologize and you atone and you grow, you don't do it again," she explained. "He doesn't do that."

However, Lala said she understands why James does the things he does. "I get that when you drink, you say things that you probably shouldn't be saying," she shared. "So for me, it's like we gotta get a handle on the source here."

None of the Vanderpump Rules ladies on WWHL Tuesday night thought that James could one day change his ways, except for Ariana Madix, who said she still has hope that the DJ can change "with a lot of therapy and hard work," much to everyone else's chagrin.

James addressed his tension with the Vanderpump Rules crew during an interview with ET in December. “There's a lot of negative energies being pointed towards me this season,” he said. “You know, there’s one thing with me: I always like to stand tall, strong, and, hopefully, Lisa [Vanderpump] stands on my side with this one. I know how it pans out, but you’re gonna have to wait and see.”
