Lauren Manzo Scalia on How She Handles "Working Mom Guilt"
The Manzo'd with Children salon owner explains her perspective on being both a businesswoman and mother.
Lauren Manzo Scalia is definitely one busy lady. In addition to being a wife to husband Vito Scalia and a mom to 2-year-old Marchesa "Markie" Scalia, the Manzo'd with Children mom also owns Fullblown Salon, which has two locations. When Lauren, the daughter of The Real Housewives of New Jersey alum Caroline Manzo, appeared on her cousin Ashlee Holmes Malleo's podcast, Making It Up As I Go, she revealed if she ever deals with guilt as a working mom.
Lauren said she never had "working mom guilt" until her daughter started preschool. "I never did until recently, not until she started school really. Because she was always home and now I feel bad sometimes when I pick her up from school and I know she wants to spend time with me and sometimes I have to go back to work and I have to drop her off at her nanny, who she adores and who is basically like a third grandma to her, but yeah I definitely do sometimes. But at the end of the day, I'm doing what I need to do for her and for us."
She also shared she is working to afford her daughter the things she needs in life, including her speech therapy, as well as saving to buy a home closer to her parents. And it seems like preschool is doing her daughter, Markie, a world of good anyway. In the same podcast, Lauren shared that her daughter has made tremendous progress with her speech as a result of school — and has even become popular with the other kids. Win-win!
