Lea Black Debuts Her First Novel
Find out how the 'RHOM' star was inspired to write her new book.
Another Housewife with another potential best selling book? Lea Black certainly hopes so!
The Real Housewives of Miami star is gearing up for the release of her debut novel (available on Amazon.com), and it's looking like fiction is mirroring reality. Titled Red Carpets and White Lies, the book is is set in Miami and follows the journey of a socialite who hosts an annual Charity Ball—"a star-studded benefit for troubled teens"—and the trials and tribulations that go along with it (sound familiar?!).
It even has a hint of Housewives in it, as it chronicles the "dirty secrets and entanglements of her friends and pseudo-friends." Sounds juicy!
So far it's gotten rave reviews from Lance Bass and OK! Magazine, both of which Lea was more than happy to share on her Instagram account.
Lea's (real life) annual Black Gala, held to raise money to support programs for at-risk youth, was last held in October of 2014, and was a stunning success. It featured a performance from Aretha Franklin, and was attended by celebrities like Courtney Love, Gloria Estefan, and rapper Flo Rida.
But Lea admitted pulling off a gig like this isn't the easiest thing in the world. "It's overwhelming," she said. "I'd say for three months out of the year it's a full-time job for me. It's just a huge amount of commitment and work and effort that's behind the scenes that people just don't see!"
Red Carpets & White Lies: A Novel is available for pre-order now, but hits shelves on May 5th.
