LuAnn and Jill Zarin Reunite on the Courts
The RHONY stars both vied for a berth in the US Open—see photos.
When recently asked on Watch What Happens Live if she ever socializes with Jill Zarin, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps confessed that Jill is like family to her. "We play tennis once in a while together. So, I do still see Jill. And, you know, Jill is like family to me."
The Countess’ sentiments were confirmed on Monday when she and Jill stepped out together during the US Open National Playoffs Eastern Sectional Qualifying Tournament at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. Jill donned a chic, short hairdo and a flirty Skweez Couture t-shirt while the Countess wore a sleek, blue tennis dressed paired with a festive paisley headband.
Jill played in the mixed doubles event with her tennis partner, Kyle Owens, a teaching pro at the Murphy Jensen Tennis Academy whereas LuAnn competed in the same event with Elliott Pettit, a teaching pro at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. While neither pair advanced to the point where they had to compete against each other, they both appeared to be having a great time playing. “Although my partner Kyle Owens and I lost to Elizabeth Kobak and Cory Parr, 6-0, 6-1, it was one of the best experiences of my life,” Jill said her in blog.
Defeat aside, fans took to Twitter to congratulate the sporty duo on their valiant efforts, including a shout out from the official US OPEN.
“When I had heard about the opportunity to compete in the US Open National Playoffs, I honestly thought I was being punked,” Jill recently said. “It is an honor and privilege to be able to compete for a spot in the US Open.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Jill and LuAnn step out on the tennis court together. Back during RHONY Season 1, they played a heated doubles match in the Hamptons against Jill’s self-proclaimed frenemy Ramona Singer.
