Luann de Lesseps Reflects on Her Drama with Bethenny Frankel in Miami: "It's Really Lu Against the Motley Crew"
The Real Housewives of New York City chanteuse sees Bethenny's outburst differently than the other ladies.
The Real Housewives of New York City ladies' trip to Miami has not been the easiest for Luann de Lesseps. The other women were increasingly bothered by her behavior, whether it was choosing to go to an AA meeting instead of comforting Barbara Kavovit or deciding to go for a swim instead of going home with a distraught Sonja Morgan. Finally, at a dinner that night at Barton G., the tension came to a head and Bethenny Frankel decided to speak her mind to Luann.
When asked why Bethenny unleashed her list of grievances about Luann, Luann told The Real Housewives of New York City After Show, "I think Bethenny's got a lot of issues and a lot of anger and a lot of stuff going on in there. It's not just about me."
However, Sonja has a different view of the situation. "Well, Bethenny bent over backwards for Luann and they weren't even the closest of friends," she said. "I had let her know that some things were going on and I wasn't comfortable but I didn't feel I could do anything, and Bethenny really stepped up to the plate and helped with the intervention, brought her a lawyer, helped her with her PR, everything —"
"Got her into rehab," Dorinda Medley interjected.
"And then Luann crapped all over it, basically. So, yeah, she got fed up," Sonja said.
Luann doesn't see it that way, though: "I think her breakdown had a lot to do with Dennis, with her own anger and her own issues and her dating and her guilt and there were a lot of things bottled up in that explosion," she explained. "At this point, I'm dealing with a bunch of gangsters. It's really Lu against the motley crew."
