Luann de Lesseps Says She and Ex Jacques Azoulay Remain "Just Friends" Amid Divorce News
The #RHONY mom shut down speculation about the cause of her split.
As we all try to make sense out of Luann de Lesseps' split from Tom D'Agostino, one report is claiming that a blast from The Real Housewives of New York City's past had something to do with it, her ex-boyfriend Jacques Azoulay.
However, Luann is shutting down the rumors, saying that she and Jacques are still "just friends." "Jacques has a girlfriend and he’s staying in a hotel, we’re friends, he’s not staying at my house. There’s no truth to the story of Jacques and me," Luann told Page Six. "God knows I’ve been going through enough recently, I don’t understand why this false rumor is coming at me.”
Jacques, who confirmed that he does still currently have a girlfriend to Page Six, also slammed the gossip. “I just arrived right now in the Hamptons and I am not staying at her house, Luann and I are very good friends, and only friends," he told Page Six. "I actually really like Tom, he’s a nice guy, I regret it didn’t work between them.”
In fact, Luann said that her and Tom's decision to split had nothing to do with anyone but the couple. "It was impossible, we were having problems and we tried really hard to fix things, and we finally came to the conclusion it was just not going to work," she explained to Page Six. "It was a tough decision and we are both very sad about it. But the truth is we just weren’t getting along.”
Luann also recently denied reports that infidelity and altercations had anything to do with why she and Tom are seeking a divorce with her rep calling them "rubbish and completely false" in a statement to E! News.
The RHONY mom confirmed the news of her and Tom's divorce on Twitter last week. "It's with great sadness that Tom & I agreed to divorce," she tweeted. "We care for each other very much, hope you respect our privacy during this sad time!"
Luann also thanked fans for being there for her in her time of need after she broke the news. "Thank you for the generous expression of warmth, kindness and understanding," she wrote on Twitter. "Your support and encouragement helps me to get through."
